A must-see festival for the spring-summer season

"Emerita Lvdica" is held every year in the Extremaduran capital. With more than eleven editions, the daily life of ancient Roman Mérida is recreated over several days.

It is the local residents themselves who "dress up" and take part in the performances, as well as the many companies that organise and carry out the events of the Roman city.
Important events such as gladiator fights, traditional markets, rites at the Temple of Diana... Even the entrance of the legionaries over the Roman Bridge into the city during their military manoeuvres!

Soldiers, citizens, governors... All the necessary papers to celebrate the founding date of the city.

Normally, this festival takes place in June, although last year it had to be delayed to October due to the pandemic situation. This year it is scheduled for end of May 2022more specifically, from 23 to 29 May. But, equally, this capital of the Roman Empire remains an ideal and unavoidable destination for any history buff.
